Currency Strength
What Is Currency Strength in CFDs Trading?
Currency strength refers to how strong or weak one currency is compared to other currencies . Currency strength is like a score that shows how powerful one currency is compared to the rest at that moment.
How Is Currency Strength Measured
- Currency strength meter: A tool (or currency strength indicator) that shows how strong or weak currencies are right now, often using a scale from 0 (very weak) to 10 (very strong).
- It helps you quickly spot which currencies are strong, and which are weak. That way, you can pair a strong currency with a weak one for better trading decisions.
- These meters can appear as currency strength chart visuals, or integrated into platforms using MT4 indicator currency strength, MT5 currency strength meter, or even live currency strength meter versions.
- Real-time updates based on multiple forex pairs, not just one. It compares every currency against all the others to determine overall strength.
- A dashboard or currency strength chart with bars or numbers, typically:
- Green/high bars = strong currency
- Red/low bars = weak currency
- Icons showing shifts, like arrows, for recent momentum or direction changes.
Simple Example of Using Currency Strength
Think of playing a tug-of-war between currencies:
- The meter shows that USD strength is 9: very strong.
- Meanwhile, JPY strength is 2: very weak.
- That indicates a high-probability setup: strong USD vs weak JPY.
You might consider a Euro cross like EURUSD, which would move more by comparison, because EUR is measured against those dynamics.
This helps you choose pairs with high “contrast” rather than two currencies that are both weak or both strong.
